Obituary for Mercedes Acosta

Mercedes Ana Acosta, lovingly known to many as “Mecho”, was born on November 8th, 1928 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She was a devoted mother and no one could have asked for a better grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt or friend. She leaves behind two children, Danilo and Angela, who adored her with their whole beings, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a second mother to many and anyone entrusted to her was loved and cared for as if they were her own. She touched the lives of so many that it would be impossible to name them all. One could enter her house a stranger, become a friend and leave as family. Her wit and sense of humor endeared her to many and her quick tongue kept many of her children, grandchildren and their friends in line and out of trouble. Her absence leaves a hole that can not be filled and the memories she leaves us are bittersweet and cherished beyond measure. Please join us to celebrate her life on Friday, April 14th. Visitation is at 12:00, immediately followed by a 1:00 service and a burial at Parkview Cemetery at 2:00.
