Obituary of Virginia LaMalfa

Schenectady - Virginia "Ginny" A. LaMalfa, 95, of Oakland Ave. died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center. Ginny was born in Amsterdam, the daughter of Joseph and Lena Bazan. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and had worked as a assembler for 13 years at the General Electric Co. retiring in 1954. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary # 93, the Ladies of Charity, St. Clare's Hospital Aux. and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Virginia volunteered with many organizations in the Schenectady area,for many years. Ginny enjoyed spending time with family and friends, always enjoying a party, playing cards, bowling, gardening, sewing and traveling with Jerry. She was predeceased by her husband Giro "Jerry" LaMalfa, he died in 1997. Ginny is survived by many devoted nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four siblings Elizabeth, Gertrude, Edward and Ernest. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Schenectady. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund 225 Lafayette St. Schenectady, NY 12305. Members of St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary are requested to meet at the funeral home at 3:00 on Sunday
