Obituary of Bettie Logan

Schenectady - Bettie Jean Logan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 1, 2017. Born in Halifax, Virginia, she was 75 years young. She was the daughter of the late Lenzer Soloman Waller. She was predeceased by her companion, Charles Scott; and eldest grandson, William Alonza Jennings Jr. She is survived by her mother, Cathleen Armstead; two sisters, Doris Armstead and Marie Lawal; two brothers, William Waller and James Armstead; and her children, Nina and William (Terry) Jennings, Latoya (Cameron), Andrew (Jerrod), Martia, Arthur, Clyde, Anthony and Sparkle (Shaquille) Logan, all of Schenectady, NY and Chanel Logan of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends. She came to Schenectady in 1972, where she worked at General Electric Company, until she retired. She then went on to own and operate Sparkle's Daycare for over 15 years. She had a passion for volunteering for her community, as she spent countless years serving the Carver Community Center Food Pantry. She was a loving and generous spirit, opening her arms, heart and home very often to people who were in need. Many called her "Mommy", and she will be forever missed by us all. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon, 1 p.m. at New Day Christian Empowerment Center, located at 1259 Chrisler Ave., Schenectady, NY 12303. Calling hours will be Noon to 1 p.m. Repast will be held at the Friendship House located at 955 State St., Schenectady, NY 12307.
