Obituary of Raymond Powers

Albany - Raymond L. Powers, 93, passed away on March 10th. Raymond was born in Albany, New York. He was the son of Michael and Helen (Blendell) Powers and was a graduate of Albany High School. Ray served in the US Navy during WWII. He married, Ruth Rietfort, in 1947. He retired from American Airlines after 33 years at Albany, NY and Dallas, TX airports. He was member of St. Paul the Apostle in Schenectady, NY. Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed golf. His beloved wife, Ruth, of 64 years, passed in 2012. He is survived by his five children, Thomas Powers, Nancy (Powers) Rafi, Janet (Powers) Occhino, Margaret (Powers) Darling, Joan (Powers) Wilkins. Grandchildren include, Rebecca Powers, Jessica Heeger, Amanda Furia, Muhammad Rafi, Sarah Rafi, Julie Occhino, Alex Darling, Samantha Darling, Rachel Murray, Marissa Chakmakas, Andrew Chakmakas, Ryan Wilkins, Brendon Wilkins; and nine great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Chelsea, Walter, Josephine, Ashley, Genavieve, Nicholas, Luke, Remi. Friends may call Wednesday, March 15th at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
