Obituary of Bernice Barnell

Schenectady - Bernice Barnell, 103, formerly of Hawthorne St., passed away peacefully Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Kingsway Nursing Home. Blessed with years of life, Bernice was born in Scranton, PA on September 11, 1913. She moved to New York City where she worked and would meet her husband, Fred Barnell. Shortly after the 2nd World War when Fred completed military service, they would settle in Schenectady for their remaining years. Fred passed away in 1998. Bernice worked at General Electric. She was predeceased by six siblings, Nellie Moran, Helen Reyersen, Mary Josephite, and Joe, Frank and Alex Arbacauskas. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Barnell of Watervliet and Ronald Barnell of Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Funeral private at the convenience of the family. Interment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke's Building Fund, 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304
