Obituary of Teresa M. Kavanah

Schenectady - Teresa M. Kavanah, 86, formerly of Baker Ave., died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Glendale Home. Teresa was born in Geneva, the daughter of Martin and Teresa Cummings. She was a graduate of St. Columba High School, St. Mary's School of Nursing, in Amsterdam and earned her Masters in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. She had worked at the Cornwall Hospital for many years, before moving to Schenectady and working at the Glendale Home, also for many years before retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Kavanah and Kevin Kavanah; six grandchildren Jessica, Tracey, Maggie,Grace Chris and Brian; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Kavanah and her siblings, Joan Breen, John Cummings, Joyce Johnson and Celeste Dardanelli. Funeral service, Saturday morning, 10:30 at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30, at the church. Interment Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glendale Home, 59 Hetcheltown Rd., Scotia, NY 12302 (designated for the activities dept.).
