Arzula (nee Thoma) France, 94, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Baptist Retirement Center. Arzula was born in Albany, the daughter of the late John and Arzula (Dorn) Thoma. She was a graduate of The Academy of Holy Names in Albany and earned her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Rose, Arzula was very proud of being a Rose Bud. She was a longtime communicant of St. Kateri Tekawitha Parish (formerly St. Helen's) and a member of many parish ministries, including: Bereavement Ministry, Social Justice Ministry, Pastoral Care Ministry, Hospitality Committee, Prayer and Worship Council and Scripture Group. Arzula was also passionately involved with Notre Dame – Bishop Gibbons as a part of the Mother's Club and Alumni Mother's Association. Through the Albany Diocese she was involved with the Right to Life. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Albert France; her daughter, Linda France; her brother, John Thoma, Jr. and granddaughter, Sarah Mattice.She is survived by her children, Mary (George) Perlotto, Ellen (Frank) Bologna, Michael (Paula) France and Michele (Tom) Mattice, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Calling hours will be Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kateri Tekakwitha (formerly St. Helen's) Monday at 9 a.m.Interment to follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 33 Elks St., Albany, NY 12207 or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5 Computer Dr., Albany, NY 12205.
