Nelson A. Peek, 87, passed away early Sunday morning at his home. Born in Union, New Jersey, Nelson lived in the Schenectady area since 1942. Nelson was a graduate of Woestina High School in Rotterdam, Jct. and graduated from the G. E. Apprentice Machinist Program in 1954. He earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College in 1959 and was awarded a Master's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College in 1962. He was a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi honorary societies. During his 38 year career with G.E., Nelson worked in the Electron Tube Dept., Advanced Development Lab, Research and Development Center, Microwave Tube Business Section and retired from the Knolls Atomic Power Lab. in 1989 as a Supervising Engineer. He was awarded one patent. He was a member of the Elfun Society and was past chairman of the Schenectady IEEE Electron Device Chapter. Nelson became a member of New Hope Lodge #730, Free and Accepted Masons in 1955 and was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. During the 1960's he was the Masonic advisor to St. Andrews Chapter, Order of DeMolay and for his contribution he received the Blue Cross Masonic award. As a young man he had been Master Councilor of St. Andrews Chapter, Order of DeMolay and had received the Chevalier degree for outstanding service. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Peek whom he married in 1954, two sons Cary (Estelle) Peek of Rotterdam and Daniel Peek of Wellsville, NY, one grandson Lance Peek of Horseheads, NY and two granddaughters Erika (Nikolas) DuPont of Rotterdam, NY and Rachel Peek of Newark, DE. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours or funeral service
