Brennan, Sr., David Rotterdam – David J. Brennan, Sr., 87, passed away Wednesday June 16, 2021. David was born is Schenectady the son of the late Anna and Joseph Brennan, Sr. and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, then proudly served in the U S Navy from 1953 to 1957 aboard the USS Albany as a Gunner’s Mate and was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 36 years retiring in 1990. After retiring from the USPS, David helped to take care of St. Paul the Apostle Church, of which he was a long time communicant and a Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed bowling, golf, crossword puzzles and was an avid NY Yankee fan. David is survived by his devoted wife, his bride, of 64 years Lois (Brucker) Brennan, their children: David (Michele) Brennan, Jr., Linda Herb and Diane (Joseph) Welsh, grandchildren: David III, Jacquelyn, Daniel, Jr., Katelyn, Ashley, Stephen, Russell and Kayla, ten great-grandchildren (with one more on the way!), siblings Francis and Agnes Brennan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Daniel F. Brennan, Sr., and siblings Joseph Brennan, Jr. and Simon Brennan. David will always be remembered for his steady loving presence and quick wit. Calling hours will be Monday 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Schenectady. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern, NY.
