Please share a memory of Dr. John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. John Angerosa passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24th, surrounded by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, as well as his daughters, sister and nephew. Born and raised in Schenectady, he was the son of John Angerosa Sr. and Christine (Casale) Angerosa. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Patricia (Kunz) Angerosa; and daughters Jennifer Hillegas (Charlie) and Elizabeth Klarin. He was blessed by six adoring grandchildren--Bella, Mia, Ben and Oskar Klarin, and Tilly and Jonny Hillegas. He is also survived by his younger sister, Elaine Angerosa Wertalik, as well as deeply cherished nieces and nephews. From his youth, Dr. Angerosa developed a deep passion for classical and jazz piano--a talent most treasured by his friends and family. He graduated from Union College (Schenectady, NY) and the University of Bologna School of Medicine (Italy); and did his General Surgery Residency at Meyer Memorial Hospital (Buffalo, NY), an ENT Residency at Albany Medical Center (Albany, NY), and a Fellowship in Head and Neck Plastic Surgery with Dr. Walter Berman (Beverly Hills, CA). As a dedicated and passionate physician/surgeon in private practice in Schenectady for 45+ years, he was known for his caring and capable treatment of his patients. His primary affiliations were with Ellis Hospital, St. Clare's Hospital, and Albany Med ENT Schenectady, serving as ENT Dept. Head at Ellis as well as President of the Schenectady County Medical Society. His love of music also carried over to his practice of medicine, treating many musicians with special awareness to the importance of their ability to continue to perform. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle and friend, with a caring shoulder to lean on. He had an exceptional life filled with faith, family, medicine, his passion for piano (especially jazz), reading, teaching Italian, driving his tractor ("Junior"), sharing stories, and love for his country. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Calling hours will be Friday, May 2nd from 9 -11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678.
