Margaret Dare Stalica

March 5, 1938 – August 19, 2025

Margaret Dare Stalica, 87, of Scotia, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 19, 2025 after a brief illness.

Born in Troy on March 5, 1938, Dare was the daughter of the late Richard D. Margosian and Catherine A. (Boyle) Margosian. She grew up in Troy and graduated from Lansingburg High School before earning her Bachelor of Education degree from Russell Sage College. She began her career as an elementary school teacher on Long Island, where she taught with dedication and care.

In 1965, Dare married the love of her life, the late Dennis Joseph Stalica, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. They settled in Schenectady, where they raised their two sons and made lifelong friendships.

Dare’s family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her son, Scott Stalica, and daughter-in-law, Maureen Stalica; her cherished grandchildren, Gina, Alex, Sara, and Danny; and many extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis, her beloved son Keith Michael Stalica, her brother Richard Peter Margosian, and her faithful golden retriever “grand-dog,” Max, who brought her so much joy.

Dare was a devoted Catholic and a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Church. She treasured her time with family and friends, whether at home, cheering from the sidelines at her grandchildren’s countless sporting events, or traveling with Denny during their empty-nest years. A true Disney enthusiast, Dare began annual trips to Walt Disney World with her family in 1972, creating cherished memories.

Calling hours will be held at Daly’s Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church on Tuesday, August 26, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Dare will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to family, and the love she shared so generously with all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those interested donate to the American Heart Association.
