James Mason, Jr. (“Jay-Ski”)
October 22, 2025
James Mason, Jr., better known to many as “Jay-Ski,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
Born in Middletown, New York, James was the beloved son of the late Mary Elizabeth Williams and James Mason, Sr. During his teenage years, the family relocated to Schenectady, where he would go on to build lasting friendships and a life filled with laughter and hard work.
James worked for many years in construction and took great pride in his craft working in masonry. Outside of work, he loved music, dancing, and fishing — and was always ready to share a joke or a story. Known for his infectious laugh and big personality, James brought joy to everyone around him. His sisters often teased that he was “good-looking and knew it,” a sentiment he wore with a smile. Above all, James had a gift for speaking life into those he met, uplifting friends, family, and even strangers with his humor and heart.
He is survived by his children, Evangelina, Crystal, James III, and Navvari; his siblings, Georgine, Cruz, Barbara,
Benjamin, and Lisa Earring; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Rodriguez.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Daly Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon
