Simeo R. Gallo Obituary
Simeo R. Gallo also known as Sam or Sammy passed at 84 years old just shy of his 85th birthday at his home in Rotterdam, New York after struggling with several debilitating illnesses. Simeo demonstrated his determination, strength and pride as he battled these diseases.
Simeo was a hard working and dedicated family man and friend. He started working at just 9 years old by helping to support his family. He had a tough exterior and protective mindset, but inside was loving and generous always willing to lend a hand or give advice.
Simeo worked proudly for General Electric in Schenectady for about 34 years. He held multiple jobs at one time while trying to support his family. These included being a bus driver and working for Bay Optical.
In his younger days, he dabbled with wood working and enjoyed bowling. He liked to make home movies too. Simeo also liked working in his garden and playing his numbers. He was known for hosting Thanksgiving dinners that he demanded he prepared, whereby everyone reconvened for round two the next day including to attend the Schenectady holiday parade.
Simeo was predeceased by his mother Maria (Zampella) Gallo and father Ralph Gallo, as well as his sister Louise (Gallo) and husband Albert Relation. He was married for 26 years to the love of his life Constance R. (Giaquinto) Gallo who we believe he now joins in the after life. He is survived by his only child and daughter Joanne (Gallo) Penman and her husband Donald C. Penman, who will hold on to his memory, love, and strength forever and always. Simeo is also remembered lovingly by his three grandchildren; granddaughter Jacqueline Marie (Penman) Colafemina husband Joshua Colafemina and two grandsons: Jeffrey Michael Penman wife Charlene (Melindo) Penman and Justin Matthew Penman fiance Brenda Robles. Simeo’s legacy will live through his eight great grandchildren: Landen, Audrey, Hayden, Avianna, Giovanni, Caliana, Simi and Iliana. He also leaves behind his nephews and nieces: Albert Relation Jr. wife Diane, Richard Relation wife Lisa, and Andrew Giaquinto partner Eileen Ottery; and late niece Donna (Giaquinto) Mattice and late nephew Daniel Giaquinto and several great nieces and nephews.
