Evangelos Papanikos

Glenville, NY – Evangelos Papanikos, 47, passed away on Monday March 16, 2026. He was born on March 14, 1979, in Schenectady, NY, to Kostantinos (Gus) and Debbie Papanikos.

Evangelos is an alumni of Niskayuna High School. He dedicated over 30 years to the family business, serving as a part-owner of Union Pizza in Schenectady, where he was a hardworking and familiar face to the local community.

Beyond his work, Evangelos’ greatest joy was his family. He cherished his time raising his two children, enjoying the outdoors through weekend hikes and bike rides. He also practiced Tae Kwon Do for many years, proudly earning his second-degree black belt. Additionally, he deeply appreciated his heritage and cherished his trips to Greece—his father’s birthplace—where he loved reconnecting with his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Evangelos will be lovingly remembered by those he leaves behind, including his two sons, Chris and Jason Papanikos; his loving parents, Gus and Debbie Papanikos; and his sister and brother-in-law, Stacey and James Kaffka. His loss will also be deeply felt by his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, both here at home and in Greece.

Calling hours will be Friday March 20, 2026 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, NY. The funeral service will be held Saturday 10:00 am at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY.
