Karen Brunner, 59, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Karen was born on November 9, 1966, in Schenectady, New York, to the late Roberta Brunner and the late Francis Brunner. She was a graduate of Mohonasen High School, Schenectady County Community College, and the College of Saint Rose, where she earned degrees in education.

Karen is survived by her loving life partner of 40+ years, Robert Bosy of Glenville, New York; her stepfather, David Hicks of Schenectady, New York; her sister, Denise (James) Luppa of Brewerton, New York; her brother, Michael (Sheena) Brunner of Austin, Texas; her niece, Danielle Luppa of Cicero, New York; and her nephew, Joseph Luppa of Clay, New York.

Karen was a longtime employee of Harbor House Fish Fry in Clifton Park and co-owner of Angler's Fish Fry in Schenectady. She was also the current co-owner of Wayside Village Apartments in Scotia.

A gifted athlete, Karen excelled in softball, soccer, and basketball at Mohonasen High School. In 1983, she proudly represented Rotterdam, New York, in an international softball tournament against their counterpart from Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Karen had an incredibly generous heart and found great joy in cooking and trying new recipes alongside Bob for family and friends. Her kitchen was always open, and everyone knew they were welcome around her table. Karen had a lifelong love of animals and was predeceased by her beloved dogs, Striker, Blackjack, and Radar. Karen's dynamic personality and sense of humor kept us all on our toes, and she will be deeply missed.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Ellis Hospital, especially the Intensive Care Unit, for their compassion and care. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Mark Sanchez for his extraordinary dedication and tireless efforts on Karen's behalf.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 8th at Noon at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 am to Noon prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Cyril's Cemetery in Rotterdam.
