Catharine `Kay' E. Heiner, 87, of Nimetz Rd., died Friday, May 7, 2010, at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness. Kay was born in Schenectady, the daughter of William and Rilla Danahy. She was a graduate of Scotia- Glenville High School. She had worked at the ALCO Company and with AT&T before retiring several years ago. Kay had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #21, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Emmanuel Friedens Church. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was married to Karl A. Heiner. They were married for 63 years at the time of his death in 2004. Kay is survived by four children , Karl N. (Marlene) Heiner, Paul T. (Sylvia) Heiner, Katharine M. (Ken) Bates and Billie Jean `BJ' (Jamie) Pierce; six grandchildren, Karlyn Crotty, Paul Heiner, Mark Heiner, Katie Dwyer, Christine Goodwill and Joe O'Connor; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel Friedens Church, 218 Nott Terrace, Schenectady. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 5 to 8 at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
