Obituary of Lorraine Batzinger

Lorraine B. Batzinger, 90, formerly of Second Avenue, died Thursday afternoon, October 21, 2010, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Lorraine was born September 12, 1920 in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Fred and Anna Landreville Batzinger. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Lorraine was a lifelong Schenectady resident, living in the same house her entire life, prior to moving to Our Lady of Mercy. Lorraine was employed her entire career at General Electric, where she worked in the motor department, until age 65. She will be remembered by family as a wonderful lady who enjoyed traveling the world and gardening. Lorraine was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Mont Pleasant until its closing as well as a very active supporter of the Discalced Carmelites Sisters and Mill Hill Missionaries. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Batzinger, Marguerite Batzinger, George Batzinger, Fred Batzinger, and Wilhelmina Loewindorff. Survivors include her brother, Frank Batzinger; sisters-in-law, Clara Batzinger and Miriam Zappone; brother-in-law, Walter Loewindorff; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will begin Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, then to St. Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, where a Mass will be celebrated at noon. Interment will follow in the Batzinger family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home.
