SCHENECTADY- Lois Rogers Watt, 82, died early Monday morning, February 21, 2011 after a long illness. Lois was born October 22, 1928 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late James and Antoinette (Benjamin) Rogers. She was a 1947 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Following graduation, Lois began her career with General Electric, where she was employed several years in the payroll department. She subsequently worked for the State University of New York Research Foundation's payroll department in Albany. She concluded her employment with Schenectady A.R.C., retiring in 1990. In her retirement years, Lois combined her love of ceramics and hard work to operate her own business, Watt Knot Ceramics, in Schenectady. In addition to crafting and selling beautiful ceramics, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Aside from her career, she truly loved traveling, most fondly, to Las Vegas with her friends. A deeply devout woman, Lois was a communicant of St. Helen's Church and a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Survivors include her three nephews, J. Jeffrey Rogers and his wife Susan of Albany, Robert W. Rogers and his wife Kathleen of Albany, and David B. Rogers and his wife Marie of Raleigh, N.C.; great nieces, Jennifer Lynne Rogers of Schenectady, Diana Marie Rogers, Caroline Anne Rogers, and Victoria Lynne Rogers, all of Raleigh; great nephew, Scott Robert Rogers of Latham; and cousins, Bruce Barringer, Kathy Zeglen and her husband Bob, and John Barringer and his wife Stacey, all of Schenectady. Lois was predeceased by her brother, James P. Rogers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9 A.M. from St. Helen's Church, Union Street, Schenectady. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A passionate dog-lover, especially Miniature Schnauzers and Labrador Retrievers, Lois wished for memorial contributions to be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, N.Y. 12302.
