Schenectady - Wayne Lamar Best, Jr., 25, of Parkwood Blvd., died Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Wayne was born in Staten Island and moved to Schenectady as a child. He was a graduate of Schenectady High School where he was a Patriots lacrosse player and he attended Herkimer Community College, where he played for the General's. In 2006, he participated in the New York State Empire State Games. Wayne had worked at Plaine's Bike Shop and Price Chopper. He had a passion for BMX-ing and being a music producer. He is survived by the mother who raised him, Karen Kirsch; his father, Wayne Best; a brother, Johnathan; Grandma Barbara Best, Grandpa Wilbert Kirby, Grandpa Dan Fleury; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his birth mother, Annette Brown. Funeral service will be held Monday afternoon 1 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, where stories and remembrances will be shared. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Vale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady High School Athletic Department.
