Obituary of Thomas Spiewak

Schenectady - Thomas Spiewak, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Wednesday December 7, 2016. Tom was born in Schenectady, the son of the late John and Lillian (Knize) Spiewak and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Draper High School and faithfully served in the US Air Force at Stratton Air National Guard for over 42 years. Tom also worked as a carpenter for Keville Contractors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and watching movies. Tom was a member of the Guilderland Elks, the Duanesburg Senior Citizens and longtime communicant of St. Luke's Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen (Kelly) Spiewak, who he married November 26, 1964; their children, Thomas Woods, Charles (Janet) Woods, Kathleen (John) Simkins, Cynthia (Harry) Simkins, Christopher (Kimberly) Spiewak, Daniel (Elena) Spiewak and Keith (Gretchen) Spiewak; his sibling, Martha Huto; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Valeria Czech. Calling hours will be Monday, 5 to 8 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Schenectady. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Church Building Fund, 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304.
