Obituary of Douglas E. Blau

Doug Blau, a longtime resident of Rotterdam, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2023, at the age of 91. He was the son of the late Gertrude and Maurice Blau; and the loving husband of the late Joyce Blau. Doug worked at the 109th Air Guard for 38 years as an Aircraft Mechanic Foreman, retiring in 1989 as a Senior Master SGT. The "Raven Gang", as his unit was called, frequently deployed to Greenland and Alaska. Doug was a lifetime member of the Rotterdam Elks, American Legion, and Ballston Spa Country Club. Doug and his beloved late wife of 61 years, Joyce, enjoyed golfing, friends, family, and yearly trips to Florida. Doug is survived by their daughter Patty (Skip) Renaud, grandsons Joe (Joanne) Renaud and Ron (Kimberly) Renaud and 5 great-grandchildren (Jacob, Devin, Sophia, Emilio, and Grace) Private services will be held at Saratoga National Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation to a charity of your choosing can be made in Doug's name.
