Obituary of Angelina Boehm

Please share a memory of Angelina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schenectady - Angelina (Lomini) Boehm died on July 28, 2013 at Ellis Hospital following a brief illness, just days short of her 92nd birthday. Angie was a longtime resident of Scotia and Schenectady. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, William Boehm; and her two sons, William and Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Edward) of River Forest, IL; grandchildren, Courtney, Caitlin, Jack and Lindsey Sloan; granddaughter, Sara Ehlers of Denver, CO; sister, Helen Wert of Amsterdam; and many loving nieces and nephews. Angie was born on August 8, 1921 to Thomas and Concetta (Pagliarella) Lomini in Hoffmans, NY. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Quirino, Gino and Vincent Lomini; and sister, Mary Casline. Ange fondly recalled growing up in a large Italian family out in the country along the Mohawk River. She attended the one-room school in Hoffmans and graduated in 1937 from Wilbur Lynch High School in Amsterdam at the age of 15. Angie met Bill while working at the GE Company, and they were married after just 12 dates. Angie was a dedicated full-time mother and homemaker who diligently volunteered in school and Scouting. She was a wonderful seamstress, baker and cook, whose back door was always open to friends stopping by for coffee or a treat from her famous candy jar. Family gatherings, travel and cards, especially bridge and pinochle, were among her passions. She was a longtime member of St. Helen Parish. In their retirement years, Angie and Bill wintered in Naples, Florida and enjoyed visiting their grandchildren in Chicago. They also helped care for the elderly who needed rides, companionship and other assistance. Angie also became an avid duplicate bridge player. Her strong independent spirit continued even after she was confined to a wheelchair in recent years. Many thanks to Sue Aragosa, Angie's caretaker of eight years, the many friends and relatives who helped keep Angie going strong, and the caring hospice and nursing staff at Ellis Hospital. Visitation is Sunday, August 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 12 at 9 at St. Kateri Tekawitha Church, 1803 Union Street, Schenectady, followed by burial at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Autism Speaks, www.autismspeaks.org.
