Obituary of Katherine Delain

Schenectady - Katherine L. Olney Delain, 65, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Kathy was born in Albany and had worked in Schenectady. She was the founder of the Friends of Vale, an organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the grandeur of Vale Park and Cemetery. She is responsible for Vale being placed on the National Register of Historic Sites. Katherine attended every City Council meeting for years and often gave her opinions to Council members. She also frequently wrote op-ed pieces for the Gazette. Katherine was active with Schenectady Public Access Television where she hosted and produced a talk show interviewing public officials and many others. She had a great affection for cats, ice cream and butterscotch. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Delain. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 12 to 1 p.m at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc.; 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment, Vale Cemetery.
