Obituary of Rosemary Bowman Peters

Schenectady - Rosemary E. Bowman Peters, 65, of Saratoga, NY and Boynton Beach, FL, died March 21, 2014, after a courageous battle. She was born on December 12, 1948, to the late Robert E. and Eleanor E. Kulakowski Bowman. Rosemary was a graduate of Linton High School, Cortland University and The College of Saint Rose. She devoted 33 years to the Schenectady City School District. Rosemary was an active union member, a building representative, an advocate for promoting literacy and active in building fundraisers to support reading at Oneida Middle School. Rosemary was a dedicated mentor to many colleagues and friends. She was a successful varsity bowling coach, achieving many awards with her teams. Rosemary was an active member in her community. She served as president of the New York Club, secretary of the Condo Architectural Committee, played in the Ladies Golf League and was part of the A2 Bocce team when she resided in Florida. In addition, she was a supportive member of St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary #93 in Schenectady. Rosemary was a strong willed individual who enjoyed traveling the world, golfing, playing cards, skiing and bowling. No matter where she was her faith was with her. Rosemary leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as an example to all. Rosemary was predeceased by the love of her life, Claude H. Peters (in 2008). She is survived by Claude's children, Pat (Joe) Cardettino, Debb (Ron) Attanasio, Lynne (Shawn) Reyell and Steve (Tracy) Peters; grandchildren, Jennifer (Drew) Hite, Julie (John) Neugebauer, Paul (Tina) Cardettino, Dana (Eric) Potts, Steven (Shulamis Rozuand) Attanasio, Cassandra (Ron Giesin) Attanasio, Ashley LeMay and Cody Reyell; great-grandchildren, Isabel and Kaitlin Neugebauer, Tristan and Caden Potts; niece, Kimberly (Guy) Berry; great-niece, Sadie Berry; and sisters-in-law, Carol Bowman and Susan Fane. She also leaves behind an abundance of cousins and friends around the country. Rosemary was there for everyone who needed her. Along with her parents and husband, Rosemary was predeceased by her niece, Cindy (in 2008), and her brother, Bob (in 2010). Funeral services, Thursday morning 9:15 from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 505 N. Parkway, Memphis, TN 28105-2729 or recognizing Rosemary's love of reading and teaching children to read, The Schenectady Inner City Ministry, 1055 Wendell Ave., Schenectady, NY 12308 (donations will be designated for the Summer Lunch Reading Enrichment Program). Members of St. Elizabeth's Auxiliary please meet at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
