Obituary of James Williams

Schenectady - James E. Williams, 81, of Consaul Rd., died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at The Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jim was born in Schenectady, the son of Jack and Julia Williams. He attended the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School. Jim was a US Army veteran, serving during Korean War and was also active with the reserves for many years. He worked for the US Postal Service for 24 years, retiring in 1992. Jim had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post and The American Legion, and will be remembered as an avid NY Yankee and Giants fan. Jim will always be remembered as a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Carey Williams, she died in 2006, they were married for 51 years at the time of her death. He is survived by four children, Lynne (Michael ) Tomaszewski, Danny (Elaine) Williams, Sue (Joe Hartigan) Rivette and Wendy (Rocco) Rescelo; seven siblings, Jack (Evelyn) Williams, Louise Mills, Donny (Jean) Williams, Barbara Hartley, Tom Williams, Jeanne Miller and Daniel (Darlene) Williams; 11 grandchildren, Jamie, Josh, James, Rachel, Daniel, Michael, Danny, Ryan, Lisa, Morgan and R.J.; and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Everett, Mary Lou Santor and Betty Jewett. Funeral Service, Saturday morning, 9:30 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours, Friday evening, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady, with military honors.
