Scotia - Helen L. Niedhammer, 86, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital Saturday, May 31, 2014. Born in Milford, NY, Helen was an area resident most of her life. She worked as a secretary for Central Plumbing and Heating Supply Company for a number of years before retiring. Helen was predeceased by a brother, Walter Grant. Survivors include her husband, Bernard Niedhammer; son, Charles (Audrey) Barnes of Glenville; daughter, Shirley Jean Smith of Schenectady; step-son, Michael (Pamela) Niedhammer of Girard, PA; step-daughter, Maureen (Michael) Tompkins of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Dewey Grant of Schenectady and sister, Shirley Brady of Delhi. Funeral service, Thursday afternoon 1 a.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Interment, Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. Calling hours, Wednesday eve 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
