Obituary of Ronald Cognetta

Atlantis, FL - Ronald G. Cognetta, 78, passed away peacefully June 3, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL with his loving family by his side. Ron was born in Schenectady, the son of the late James and Anna Cognetta. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1954 and upon graduation, held many interesting careers, along with serving his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was a Principal Account Clerk for the finance dept. of the City of Schenectady, General Mgr. for Trimpoli Construction, Manager of Cornell's restaurant, becoming a restaurant-owner himself, and retired from his career as General Mgr. for Red Lobster restaurant, receiving the Bill Darden Founders Award. Ron relocated to Lake Worth, FL in 2006 and is survived by Kathleen Cognetta, his loving wife and companion of 33 years; predeceased by his brothers, Salvin Cognetti and Ralph Cognetta; and is survived by his brother, Thomas Cognetti (Lorraine); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cognetta & Marylou Cognetti; his children, James Cognetta, Karen Kenyon (Gino Rossi), Diane Maune (Ron) and Patricia Cognetta (Jerry Butler); his grandchildren, Brian Cognetta (Marinda), Christina Cognetta, Laurie LaVallee (Tom) and James Cognetta; Christopher and Andrew Kenyon; Adam Maune (Lisa) and Aimee Montes (Arturo); and Eric Cognetta and Kianna King. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren and his only surviving aunt, Eulie (Bertha) Cannice. Ron is also survived by his former wife, JoAnn Aragosa and several dear friends. Ron had many interests including his love for cooking, bowling, baseball & golf, and most of all, spending time with his family. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McCllelan Street, Schenectady, and funeral services will begin Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home, then to St. Luke's Church in Schenectady where a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ronald G. Cognetta may be made to the American Heart Association , PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
