Niskayuna - A Brooklyn girl born and bred, Florence Dexter passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, October 1, 2014, 91years young, a longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor, NY, and a more recent resident of Niskayuna, NY, Flora was a warm, vivacious and outgoing woman. She was a special education teacher, mother, grandmother, wife and a community organizer. She held a great passion for travel and food and always found pleasure in the people and things around her. Above all things, she cherished her children and her grandchildren, and nothing pleased her more than spending time with them and witnessing their achievements. A firm believer that individuals should make a difference in their community, Flora was always actively engaged in as many causes as time allowed. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin and her daughter, Susan. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Dexter-Hinton; son, Daniel Dexter; and grandchildren, Corey and Molly Hinton and Sonya and Hannah Dexter. There will be a private family celebration of Florence's life. Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205, are welcomed.
