Obituary of Wayne Smith

Wayne Smith Sr., 75, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014. Wayne was born in Schenectady, the son of the late James Howard Smith and Bernadine (Howe) VanBuren and was a lifelong area resident. He was also predeceased by his sister, Claudia Linscott. He worked for Service Liquor in Schenectady for many years, retiring as plant manager. Wayne also worked in the landscaping business for many years with Pigliavento's. He was a longtime member of the Scotia-Glenville Elks and loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing. Wayne is survived by his longtime companion, Shirley Mowers; son, Wayne (Donna) Smith Jr.; daughter, Robin (Brian) Smith-Amell; grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Kimberly, Samantha, Janine and Sasha; great-grandson, Zander; and several nieces and nephews and the entire Mowers family. Calling hours will be Friday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Rotterdam.
