Rotterdam Junction - Eugene "Gene" Szymanski, 83, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015. Gene was born in Meriden, Connecticut, the son of the late John and Mary (Wilemski) Szymanski. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and then began his professional life as a high school biology teacher. Gene went on to sell medical electronic equipment and more recently was a heavy truck dealer. He was a loving family man and passionate about boating and fishing. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marcella Szymanski, their children, John Szymanski and Virginia (Marc) Rosenbloom, and grandchildren, Alexandra, Emily, Michael and Jack. He was predeceased by his sister, Theodora Seledyn and his grandson, Jeffrey. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will begin Wednesday 8:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Rotterdam Junction, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9a.m. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden, CT.
