Schenectady - Mary Licardo, 78, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015. Mary was born in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Anthony and Iva Licardo. She worked as a security guard for many years, first in the capital region for Wackenhut Security, and later for Giddens Security in St. Augustine, Florida, where she lived for more than 20 years. Mary returned to the Schenectady area a few years ago to be closer to family. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Kenneth) Test and Sherri Parks; son, Gary Parks; brother, Anthony Licardo; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; cousin and caretaker, Betty Hempstead; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her son, Barry; and daughter, Christine. Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Barnwell Nursing Home for how they cared for Mary. The funeral service will be Monday, 12 noon at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
