Obituary of Joseph Farone

Schenectady - Joseph T. Farone, Sr., 96, of Orchard Terrace, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, July 18, 2015. He was born in Schenectady on August 25, 1918 to the late Anna and Carmelo Farone. Joseph entered the Army during World War II, June 1943 to November 1945, serving as a medic in Central Europe. Later, Joseph was employed by American Locomotive Company and General Electric. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing, singing barbershop in the Electric City Chorus, doing projects, organizing the Farone family reunions and being with his family. He was a lifelong Catholic, who attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Ballston Lake. He was also actively involved with many activities at the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church with numerous members of his family. In addition to his beloved parents, Joseph is also predeceased by his 17 siblings. We will miss his kindness, his laugh and his infectious smile. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, of Burnt Hills; three sons, Joseph (Cynthia) Farone Jr. of Castleton on the Hudson, Frank Farone of Winchester, Massachusetts and David Farone of Schenectady; two daughters, Karen (Terry) Miltner of Burnt Hills and Cynthia (Terry) Amrhein of Bridport, Vermont; three step-sons, Craig (Elaine) Halsted of Strasburg, Virginia, Kirk (Mary-Ann) Halsted of Gansevoort and Scott Halsted of Tigard, Oregon; and one step-daughter, Heather Haines of Afton, Virginia. He also had 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 21, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, New York. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
