Obituary of Joseph Baumler

Rotterdam - Joseph E. Baulmer, 100, of Augstine Ave,. died at home on Sunday, August 9. 2015. Joe was born in Schenectady, the son of Frank and Anna Baumler, and had attended Draper high School. He was a U S Army World War II veteran earning a Bronze Star, receiving an accommodation with his group for clearing the Saar-Mozelle Triangle and seizing a bridgehead east of the Saar River. He worked for General Electric Co in the Large Motor and Generator Department, retiring with 37 years service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Joe enjoyed playing classical violin and later the banjo, playing with several bands around the greater Schenectady area. He was a former member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He was predeceased by his wife Ernestine Cross Baumler, she died in 2002. He is survived by two son: William (Joan) Baumler of Hagaman and David Baumler of Rotterdam; two grandchildren: Brian (Caitlyn) Baumler and Amye Baumler and three great-grandchildren, twins: Annalise and Elizabeth and Mason. Funeral, private at the convenience of the family.
