Obituary of Jane Marotta

Schenectady - After 102 years, 5 months and 26 days, Jane has passed on to be with the Lord and her family and friends who have passed ahead. Jane enjoyed life, every day, never a complaint. She would say "This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad" (psalm 118:24). She looked forward to and enjoyed every day of her 47 year career at Ellis Hospital, retiring as Director of Admitting. For 20 years she participated daily in the Sunnyview Hospital Pool therapy program for her arthritic legs. This enabled her to walk. For the past three years she resided at Kingsway Manor Assisted Living and received excellent care. Schenectady is blessed to have Ellis, Sunnyview and Kingsway, they are all outstanding. Jane was born at home, in Schenectady on February 16, 1913, the daughter of late Salvatore and Alfonsina Marotta. She graduated from Schenectady High School in 1931. Jane is survived by sister-in-law, Elvira Marotta of Whitesboro; niece, Phyllis DeVivo Foster and her husband, Fred of Rome; great-nephew, Fred Foster and his wife, Margot and their son, John all of Saranac Lake; cousins, Jim and Nancy Marotta Norris of Clifton Park, Eugenie Romps of Brooklyn, Marion O'Brien of Albany, Judy Farrell of Ballston Spa, John and Mickey Diggins of Ballston Spa, John and Mary Marotta of CA, Grace Marotta Emond of Stamford, CT; and many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Angelo Joseph Marotta; sisters, Mafalda Marotta and Louise Marotta DeVivo; great-nephew, John Foster; and many other family members and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 15, at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Rosa Road. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
