Schenectady - Walter A. Fountain, 87, of Baker Ave., died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, in Glenville. Walt was born in Schenectady, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth Fountain. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, a US Army veteran and had worked at the General Electric Co. for 38 years, missing one day of work in all those years of working at GE, retiring in 1981. While working at GE, he also worked for many service stations through the years part time, he worked at Tullock's Service Station for 28 years. Favorite pastimes included bowling participating in several leagues through the years and loved playing baseball in the right field with several baseball leagues including the Twilight League, Kral League and the Country Inn Softball League. He was predeceased by the love of his life Catherine Durrant Fountain, she died in 2009. Walt is survived by two sons, Walter "Skip" Fountain and Gary Fountain both of Glenville; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Fountain, Marjorie Wilson and Betty Williams. Funeral service, Saturday morning, 9:30 at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours, Friday evening, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Entombment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
