Colonie - Bernard "Bernie" Gibbard, 69, passed away Wednesday September 23, 2015 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Bernie was born in Lancaster, PA, grew up in Albany and has called the capital area his home ever since. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for six years, worked for General Electric as a young man and worked for Albany County Department of Social Services as a social worker for many years, retiring 3 years ago. Bernie met his wife, Suzanne (Michna) Gibbard when he was 15 years old and she 13. They have been together for 54 years and happily married for last 46 years. In addition to his beloved wife, Bernie is survived by their cherished children: Traci (Craig) Bryda and Kevin (Mary) Gibbard, grandchildren: Abbigail (Jason Whitney) Bryda, Logan Bryda, Kali Gibbard, Haley Gibbard, great-granddaughter Skylah Whitney, adopted grandson Anthony Allen and furry friends Lucy and Fluffy. Calling hours will be Thursday September 24, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A graveside service will be held Friday September 25, 2015 at Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
