Schenectady - Tonya J. Henderson, 47, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 19, with her loving daughter and boyfriend by her side. Tonya fought a long battle with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, Scleroderma, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis among other illnesses. She is survived by her mother, Joyce E. Eppler and husband, Brian; her father, Brian Shannon; her daughter, Amanda J. Clark; and grandson, Damien; her sisters, Helena Valiquette and Tamara Shannon; her grandmother, Dorothy Shannon; her nieces, Hannah and Aubrey; her loving boyfriend, Eric Beaugy; as well as many other extended family members. Tonya was a prominent member of our community who dedicated her life to those less fortunate and was appreciated by all. She served 20 years as a Resource Manager for Schenectady ARC and moved on to retire at Schenectady DSS. She loved her family more than anything in this world and held a special place in her heart for volunteering her time and love to the Special Needs community. She was an advocate to those who needed a strong voice and loved to help many local charities even after she became too ill to work. Tonya touched the lives of many and will be missed by each and every one of those she encountered. Visitation will be Friday afternoon, 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
