Schenectady - Sophie McCloskey, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, where she resided for nearly the past three years.
Sophie was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Casmir and Bernice Baczkowski and was a lifelong resident. She had worked as a restaurant waitress in the capital region. Sophie enjoyed word seeking puzzles, gardening, being outdoors and was a loving homemaker for her family. She was predeceased by her husband Irvin McCloskey after 44 years of marriage and her daughter, Joyce McCloskey DeSouza.
Sophie is survived by her children: Kathleen McCloskey of Syracuse, NY, Ronald McCloskey of Schenectady, NY and Garry McCloskey of Schenectady, NY; siblings: Henry Baczkowski, Edward Baczkowski, Frances Vincent-Hess and Theresa Baczkowski and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
