Schenectady - Rodney J. Perkins was surrounded by care and compassion at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home when he died Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Rodney was born in Schenectady on July 7, 1934, the son of the late John and Doris (Glindmyer) Perkins, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, attended Sienna College and was a longtime communicant and usher of St. Luke's Catholic Church. Rodney worked for Gifford Abstract Corp. for many years, retiring as a Sr. Vice President. He was well known and respected in his field. Rodney enjoyed handicapping horses and loved being at the rail at Saratoga. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by he his sisters, Annie and Rosemary; and his brother, Ray. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sue Perkins; and his nephews, Tom, Jim, Bob and Mark. The family would like to thank the parishioners of St. Luke's Catholic Church for their help getting Rodney to church, and Adina and Burt, for helping Rod to remain in his home as long as possible. A very special thank you to Richard, Margie and Cheryl for lovingly taking charge and being there for Rod and us in all ways. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady. A calling hour will held Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
