Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael "Ed" Pacelli, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at the Albany Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, New York, he was the son of the late John and Gilda (Cercone) Pacelli. He attended Christian Brothers Academy. Ed honorably served as a Corporal in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked at the ALCO in Schenectady, Electric Boat in Connecticut and with the Connecticut Plumbers and Pipefitters. He was a longstanding member of the Connecticut Pipe Fitters Union Local 777, and a proud member of the Veterans Association. Ed was a fun loving independent spirit. He enjoyed the outdoors, long and short car rides, a good ballgame, and spending time with family and friends. His summers often included time at Sacandaga, vacations in Maine and lots of days and evenings on his favorite bench in downtown Saratoga. Being with people made Ed smile. Ed enjoyed a good holiday meal and was usually up for a second helping. He liked his soda, his Italian desserts, and he loved his ice cream! Ed was a thoughtful Uncle and a good friend to many. Ed is survived by his two cherished sisters, Alma Gabriele and her children, Gina (Ken) Alvord, Bernardi (Terry) Gabriele and John Gabriele and his fiancé, Megan Neuhaus, and Arlene Ferguson and her children, Donald (Michele) Ferguson, Eric Ferguson (Paula Frigolette) and Darcy Ferguson (Tony Scavia). He is also survived by several first cousins and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be greatly missed and always fondly remembered by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 812 Union St., Schenectady. The visitation will be Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the church. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions made be made to the St. John the Evangelist Restoration Fund.
