Obituary of Reisa Farber

Schenectady - Reisa D. Farber, 83, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on May 15th, 2016. She was born in Schenectady to Joseph and Rose Cohen. She was predeceased by her parents and her husbands, Bernard Fink and Leonard Farber. She graduated from Nott Terrace H.S. and studied biology at Rider University, where she met her first husband, Bernie Fink. They moved to California where she worked as a medical technologist in a military hospital. She returned to Schenectady and joined her mother in her interior decorating business serving the Capital District. She married her second husband, Len Farber in 1964. After ending her career as decorator in 1984, she became a broker with Realty USA. Reisa worked at Realty USA until her retirement in November 2014. She is survived by her sons, Jon Fink, Mike Farber (Susan) and step-grandson, Jack; and numerous cousins. She had fond memories of long trips to the family farm in Utica, shared with her 12 aunts, uncles and cousins; and memories of playing with close cousins Ronnie and Sandy while living in Miami during WWII. She shared her love of world travel and many years of winter vacations in P.R. and West Palm Beach, Florida with her closest friends. They enjoyed the arts, socializing, bridge, water aerobics, mahjong and dining together. Reisa volunteered for many years at Proctors, SPAC and Capital Rep. Reisa was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. The family is exceedingly grateful to her excellent private doctors and thankful for the wonderful care given by the Ellis Hospital A5 doctors, nurses and aides during her say. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, on Tuesday, May 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Proctors Theater.
