Obituary of Orville Guynup

Orville R. Guynup, formerly of Schenectady, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016. Orville was born in Schenectady on July 6, 1933, the son of the late Orville and Viola Guynup. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked for the Schenectady City Schools for many years. Orville was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church in North Carolina and was an inductee to the Northeast Country Music Hall of Fame as a drummer. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Guynup and his son, Richard Guynup. Orville is survived by his children, Robert Guynup, Armand Guynup, George Guynup, Carrie Wagner-Guynup, Patricia Pomykaj, Lynn Dickenson, James Guynup, Cindy Tavernia and Michael Guynup; 29 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be Thursday, 12 noon at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, NY. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
