Obituary of Richard Chrostowski

Richard C. Chrostowski-Rotterdam Richard C. "Dick" Chrostowski, 74, of Maida Lane, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the home of his daughter, after a short illness. Dick was born in Schenectady, the son of Chester and Helen Wasniewski Chrostowski. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having been stationed in Fort Worth, Texas and Mississippi. He worked at the General Electric Co. as an industrial photographer for 42 years before retiring. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the Rotterdam Rod and Gun Club where he enjoyed target shooting with his cousin, Ed, and friends. Dick enjoyed taking photos and videos of all the family gatherings. He was an occasional referee at his grandson's little league and he never missed attending a game! He was a devoted Yankees fan, even when they weren't playing as well as he would have liked. The NY Giants made him proud when they made it to the Superbowl this year. Despite his illness he did his best to watch the game and root for his favorite team. Dick had been a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace. He will always be remembered as a lovely husband and father. On May 12, 2010 he was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Veronica Roni May Jiusto Chrostowski. He is survived by two daughters, Tami (Jeffrey) Bloom of Glenville and Cindy Chrostowski of Rotterdam; a brother, Leonard Chrostowski of Schenectady; and four grandchildren, Brian and Aaron Bloom, Kara (Eric) Slezak Hodecker, Alyssa Slezak; and several cousins. Funeral service Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
