Schenectady - Bernard J. Miller, 84, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016. Bernard was born in Rotterdam, the son of the late Bernard G. and Eleanor Miller and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Draper High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bernard worked as a mechanical draftsman first for ALCO and later for Atlas Copco and was a communicant of St. Madeline Sophie Church. He was a stamp collector, photographer and loved traveling the eastern seaboard with his family to visit various lighthouses. Bernard is survived by his wife, Adora (Whelan) Miller, whom he married in 1952; his son, Jeff (Kathleen O'Connor) Miller of Guilderland; granddaughter, Brittney Gerber; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Colleen and two sisters, Gertrude Marr and Eleanor Hennessy. Calling hours will be Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Funeral services will begin Thursday 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
