Obituary of Frederick Bogdon

Galway - Frederick James Bogdon Sr., 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at home with his loving family by his side. Fred was born in Schenectady on Thanksgiving, November 25, 1943, the son of Joseph and Alexandria Bogdon. He attended Schenectady schools, then entered the U S Army in 1962, where he served three years in Ausburg, Germany. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Janet Clark and they raised two beautiful children, Lori and Frederick Jr. In 1965, returning from Germany, Fred was employed by the GE. In 1969 he left GE to start his own roofing company, Glenville Suburban Roofing Co. In 1972 he founded Quality Roofing and Supplies, Corp. He was well respected in the roofing industry and Fred's name and his word were highly regarded. Fred was a talented builder and took great pride in his projects. He built two of his own houses, including horse barns and several out buildings. He also extensively remodeled two more of his homes, one of which was in North Port, Florida, where he and Janet enjoyed spending the winter months. They also enjoyed travelling, visiting many places around the world, but especially enjoyed the Caribbean, which provided great scuba diving experiences. Fred loved spending time with his family, often attending his grandsons sporting events. He also enjoyed playing cards and golf, and the fun filled times with his golf buddies. Fred leaves behind his dear wife and best friend, Janet; his daughter, Lori (Lawrence) Appel of Saratoga Springs; his son, Fred (Francesa) Bogdon of Galway; and his grandsons, Robert Appel, Dante Bogdon and Dylan Bogdon. He is also survived by several cousins. The family wishes to thank, David Gazzillo, for his devoted attention throughout his illness, providing much laughter with his daily calls and their weekly road trips.
