Obituary of Joseph Palmiotto

Scotia - Joseph Palmiotto, 94, passed away peacefully on December 4 after a brief illness. Born in Bari, Italy, he came to the US as a young boy. He was formerly of Elm Street, Schenectady, and Tryon Ave., Scotia. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II and served on the anti-aircraft artillery unit in Normandy. Joseph was a member of the local Northeast Carpenter's Union for over 50 years and built several homes in Schenectady. Joseph was also a devoted parishioner of St. Luke's Church in Schenectady and served as an Usher and Acolyte, as well as President of the Holy Names Society. He had a passion for gardening and architecture and loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine "Rita" (Petitti) of 51 years. He is survived by his three sons, Frank (Maureen), Thomas (Carmela), Daniel (Mary-Jo), and Linda (Haberland) Palmiotto. Also survived by grandchildren, Marc (Danielle) Palmiotto, Christina (Michael) Carlson, Lindsey (Joseph) Martini, Jenna, Tia, Carissa, Lacy Palmiotto, and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Martiniano of Rhode Island; sister-in-law, Gina (Petitti) DeGasperis of Long Island; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Thursday morning 8:30 from Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., and 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Church. Calling hours, Wednesday evening 5 to 7. Entombment, Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Church, Schenectady, or Hospice of Schenectady or Albany, NY.
