Obituary of Karen Kavney

Niskayuna - Karen L. Kavney, 73, of Niskayuna Dr., died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Ellis Hospital. Karen was a lifelong resident of Niskayuna. She was the daughter of William and Martha Yager and was a graduate of Niskayuna High School and had attended Russell Sage College. For over 30 years she was a billing administrator for B.E.S.T. Systems and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael Kavney; two children, Michael (Colleen) Kavney of Fayetteville, GA and Christine (Joe) Holden of Wilbraham, MA; three siblings, William (Geraldine) Yager of Scotia, Patricia (Dan) Moser of Ballston Spa and David (Marie) Yager of Niskayuna; and the loves of her life were her five grandchildren, Zachary, Sean, Ainsley, Katie and Michael. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Saturday morning, 9:15 a.m. from GLEASON FUNERAL HOME, 730 Union St., Schenectady and 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours, Friday evening, 5 to 8 p.m. at GLEASON FUNERAL HOME. Interment, Memory Gardens, Colonie.
