Schenectady - John R. Burns, Jr., 61, of Paulding St., died at home on April 14, 2017. John was born in Albany, the son of John and Florence Burns. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and a US Navy veteran. He had worked for the City of Schenectady and Campbell Plastics. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Jennings Burns, she died in 2012; and is survived by three children, Rebecca (Terrance Townsend) Burns, Jennifer Burns and Joshua Burns; six siblings, Carol Leroy, Pauline Price, Wayne Burns, Lee Burns, Patsy Burns and Gerald Brooks; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his loving cat, Schmitly. He was predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Burns. A committal service will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. A calling hour will be held at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Interment, Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302. -
