Schenectady - Anthony E. Ciampa, 76, passed away suddenly while scuba diving off the island of Bonaire, in the Caribbean Sea, on Saturday, April 8, 2017. He lived in Sahuarita, AZ. He was born in Schenectady on November 5, 1940, the son of Albert E. and Margaret (Touhill) Ciampa.
Tony graduated from Linton High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1959. He served the Signal Corps in Vietnam, Germany and at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1984. He worked as a civilian for the U.S. Army Civil Service until his retirement from there. He was a Master Scuba Diver Instructor with PADI and a member of the Desert Dolphins Scuba Diving Club since 1980. His interests included running, scuba diving, nature, travel and underwater photography. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Rita Rain Quimby.
Tony is survived by his step-daughter, Andrea Rene Iniquez, her husband, Alexander and their children, Mason Alexander and Taleah Alexandria; step-son, John Mathew Martin, his wife, Dawn Dacus and their son, Ivan; his sister, Frieda Tanski; nieces, Christina Tanski and Gabrielle (Scott)Shaver and several cousins. He is also survived by his cat, Midnight.
Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. from Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St. and 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church (State St.), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protection Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302
