Schenectady - Richard J. "Dick" Holoday died suddenly on May 10, 2017. Born on June14, 1936,

Dick was a warrior, determined to live life at its fullest, as an athlete, a sportsman and, most importantly, as a husband, father and grandfather. A 1954 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, Dick served his country in the US Navy, and later worked as mail carrier and built his own contracting business, Mardoc Construction. Known to many as "Doc Holoday", he fully embraced life as a gambler. He bet on the horses, football and was quick to turn your good luck into today's numbers. He was also quick to "bet on" and support the adventures and success of his children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also always let them know in no uncertain terms how they could better his odds on those bets. Dick was a person who showed up for the people he loved. Dick's memory is cherished by his beloved wife, Margaret, their blended family: Richard and Liese Holoday (Richard and Chris); Kim and Sean Testar (Zacary, Haley); John and Nicole Holoday (Samantha, Alex); Michelle and Charles Robertson; Shannon and Michael Biggs (Michael, Connor); his sister, Patricia Worret and several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist, Union St., Schenectady. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family
